20mm GI Flat Bar is prepared by dipping ordinary steel in a pool of molten zinc and the process is called the hot-dipping. Electro-dipping, is another method which is used for building the coating. In many cases, the steel is dipped in an electrolyte solution comprising zinc and use electrolysis process to prepare the coating.During the preparation of GI pipe, a layer of zinc coating is added to its surface to prevent the corrosion.Galvanized steel is quite weaker than the stainless-steel material. As GI has only one outer layer of coating (rust-free) that sheds away over the time; thus, it doesnt provide protection against rusting for a longer period. These pipes are widely used for conveying raw water & distribution of treated water in majority of rural water supply schemes, where the requirement of water is less. Mostly medium quality GI pipes are used. These pipes are cheap, light in weight and easy to handle & transport & easy to join. Their sizes vary from 15mm to 150mm.Galvanised Iron (GI) Pipes are manufactured using mild steel strips of Low Carbon Steel Coils. The strips are passed through a series of fin rolls to give them a circular shape. The slit ends of the strips are then welded together by continuously passing high frequency electric current across the edges.Water supply is the process of general requirement for supply of water from public water supply system to individual building and subsequent distribution of water to various parts of the building. The water from public water supply system to individual buildings is supplied through pipes. A large proportion of capital is invested on pipes while designing water supply distribution system.
